Passion, print, press & pontifications…

Sylvie Hill’s motto: Follow what you love and you won’t get lost – reach out to people who can take you there. This passion-first resolve and a desire to connect with an audience earned her a profile as a fiery writer (and performer) in Canada’s Capital City.

Active in an era of arts and culture alternative weeklies, pubs and paper maps, I channelled my passion for provocative authors into continuing education university courses; fierce appreciation for bands inspired magazine articles that sold albums; and adventures abroad were transformed into spoken-word performances and books of poetry. As a closet band manager, I also did a lot of band PR and wrote bios for musicians. A throwback from that time, find here some old poems, snippets from my arts and culture articles, and a TV show I hosted about … courtship and writing!

Going forward, writing about relationships and human connection continues to intrigue me. Watching the dynamic of heterosexual relationships alter/falter with female menopause, social media and AI world, and Western medicine and society’s shady understanding of aging women’s issues, methinks new words are needed to communicate female desire and intimacy.
