I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means. … I don’t know what I think until I write it down. ~ Joan Didion.

In today’s age, texting – and various AI aids and apps – are assisting people in communicating faster than ever. But there’s a disconnect between the words read, and the sentiments meant, until the human hand and heart adjust it for one’s feel and personality. Enter emojis. Do these tools help or hinder sense-making of the world around us?

Real communication happens when our own minds, heart and soul join up to … express. That’s not to say invest in more pencils. Back in my day, writing in a journal book, scribbling on coffee-stained napkins … that was real, tactile. The magic in the silence and pondering. Glancing askance for the right word, pensive in pontification helped shape a thought, your voice. Penmanship imprinted our moods. Words recorded our selves. The computer then helped transcribe. I got paid for it – to think, to write-type.

It’s now 2026. Things have changed. I don’t expect my posts here (below) to be novel (although they be the size of one!): all’s been done before, or worse — generated at the tap of a button. But let’s believe that inspired thoughts are still valuable thoughts, and even if they’re conveying something you already know – maybe the way it’s said, or because of who is writing, that it can resonates. Perhaps it’s something completely new. So, here are some of my rants and missives.

Can I share something with you…?
